how odd, she stopped growling...

I have a hen who would always growl when I showed up until today . I went to pick her up and she let me and she was still quiet , most of the time I would pick her she would growl . I fed her some harvest delight while I held and then I let her go . My girlfriend and I were perplexed to see she did not growl at all.

A while later our hen would just stand still somewhere behind a box and we wondered why so we swatted her away so she could move and she went into her coop and just stood there. I am a little concerned. I checked her out she looks healthy and she eats still pecks here and there. Should I worry?

Maybe you have just tamed her, and she wants to be picked up -- or she is waiting for a treat. I hope she isn't getting sick!

Well today she was good . What was odd was that I was trying to finish my new coop by painting it and well she came jumping up on the wet paint looking at me as if asking for a treat with her mouth open as her throat was contracting. I picked her up and put her down and continued to paint.

Later on around 2 pm she goes missing and I freak out looking all over the place for her . I call out to her by shaking the bag of harvest delight and only my two other young pullets show up . So Im looking under the house near the grass on the street then I walk all the way back to the coop and I find her in the nesting box where they usually sleep and she is just there with her beak open contracting her throat or something.

This was very perplexing for me because it was not bedtime yet , it is in the middle of the afternoon . So I am observing her and all she does is she keeps getting some hay with her beak and placing it behind her . She looks exhausted so I hand her some food near the nesting box and a little plastic cup of water she drinks it and eats etc. Still moving around the nesting box so I facebook that I am probably getting my first EGG! So Im all excited about it I text all my friends and my girlfriend " this is it shes finally laying her first egg!!!" .

I go on a lunch break and just give her privacy when I come back shes out and about eating dustbathing etc. NO FREAKIN EGG???! I looked everywhere for it. WHat the heck does that mean ??

They were inside locked inside their coop the whole time I dont see anywhere else she would lay the egg except inside the coop btw.
