How often do you apply vaseline to combs?

Hi, this is my first winter with chickens. I have been applying vaseline to the ones with large combs in the past few days and I am planning on doing so as long as the temps go below 20 or 25 degrees.

My question is: do you need to put vaseline on them EVERY night when it gets this cold?

I have been putting it on in the evening - lots of it - and the next morning I can't even tell that I had put anything on them.

Do you only put it on the comb or also on the waddles?

Thank you!

I have a coule that I but it on every night. I put it on the combs and wattles.

If I can catch some of the others I also put it on there legs to help ward off leg mites.

Not sure if it has really helped putting in on the wattle and combs as my WLRC still got frostbit. But I figured might as well try.

I put vaseline on all 10 of my girls about once a week. It seems to be helping i have noticed on dark spot on thelmas comb but the others are fine and its been getting down in the -15 at nite.

I rarely put it on my hens... they're smart, they put their heads under their wings.

i put it on the males' combs and wattles. I still get some frost bite, but it can't hurt them.
