How often does your sex link lay?

I've had three black sex links in my coop for a few months now - they belong to my neighbour and are the only survivors of a raccoon attack. One has not laid an egg since she got here although she seems to be all healed up and happy now. The other two each produce an egg a day without fail. The temperatures are dropping to freezing overnight now, they are in the middle of a moult (1.5 years old), there is no supplemental lighting, and still those two lay an egg every day. They are egg-laying machines! I know that I will have two extra large brown eggs in the nest box every morning even though I'm only getting one egg from my 6 young EEs (I was getting 3-4 blue eggs a day but they seem to have gone on strike lately).

I have ten sex-links, and I am still getting 9 eggs a day from them. When you consider they lay an egg every 25 hours, basically they're all laying an egg a day. I have started giving them supplemental lighting, though. The little darlings really are egg-laying machines, aren't they? And mine have cute personalities to boot.

My reds started at 16 weeks, the blacks at 22weeks. My reds seem to have smaller eggs than my blacks. The blacks only stopped laying for 1 month in the dead of winter last year when they were in the middle of a molt, no extra lighting in the coop, and after a dog attack. Other than that I get an extra large egg out of them just about every day. If they miss a day, the next one is a double yolker! I've only had my reds since spring.

We have 8 red stars and we get 8 eggs almost every day. Since they all started laying we've never gotten less than 5 in one day. Lately we might only get 7 eggs once or twice a week but they were moulting and it's getting cold.

These chickens are AWESOME. People just rave over the size and color of our eggs. I asked another local person how many chickens they have and she said they have 16 chickens and get 8 eggs a day. I also checked out some farm fresh eggs of someone else I know and our eggs really are great looking in comparison. I love my chickens.

We also have 6 black stars that are 9 weeks old. I'm hoping I like them as much as the red stars when it comes to laying.

When our red stars were younger we'd get tons of double yolkers. I always knew to look for a double if someone had skipped a day.

Sex links lay? Mine seem to think they are above such petty matters.

I'll let them know they are letting their breed's reputation down. I'm sure that will shame them into action! Okay, so they are only 20 weeks old, but still.

my sex links are about 15 weeks don't know for sure got them from some one. people ask me all the time if i would sell them some. i have six red and four black. i am going to pick up a rir roo saturday and i have four slw hens about two years old so i am hoping on making some more. i can't wait. i have ten hens now that are laying and i was getting as many as 8 a day and once got 10 but for the last 5 days i have gotten three. i think they are playing hide and seek.

My only experience prior to having red sex links is with peacocks, so I really have no comparison (or experience

but...

I've got 21 17 1/2 week old pullets. 7 of them are currently laying (the first two started a week ago), and I get 7 eggs a day. I've got one girl who's having trouble "getting with the program". She lays from the roost, and today I have a feeling she layed a shell-less/membrane-less egg, but she's young and I'm monitoring her vigor/health closely. They have free choice oyster shell and I put ACV (w/mom) in the water.

They are unbelievably friendly! We've had them since day 2, and discovered that we had a rooster by about the end of the first month (when they started to color up). I was really worried about having a rooster, but "knock-on-wood" he has not only been nice, but he has become even nicer to the girls over the last week. As an example, he doesn't even pull feathers when he mounts!

Sometimes I lament the fact that we don't have more exotic birds (I'd love some colored eggs), but each has its interesting color/feather variation, and I'm really happy with their vigor/production/friendliness.
