I was wondering how often I should feed grit to my girls. They are ages 8 mo. to 12 mo. approx. 50 of different breeds. I've been scattering about a handful around the coop about every 1-2 weeks. Is this enough?

Well you can ignore this post. If I would have read further in the post I would have gotten my answer. Sorry for the duplication.

I keep a tuna can of grit out at all times in the run/coop and replenish as it goes down. That way they can eat what they need. Mine do not free range; they are in a run covered with sand.

I leave grit out all the time in a small bowl. They take what they want when they want. And I refill. Mine free range all day, every day...and they still eat grit as needed. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure (translated - healthy, satisfied bird).
