Ok, I will close the vents. They move around at feeding time. So, no heat lamp? The food and water are outside, so that encourages them to move about.

Need to see pics of your coop. If it's too small, a heat lamp could be disastrous.

I don't use a heat lamp as I don't want my birds becoming dependent on it, and the risk of fires is the biggest reason I never use one.
