How often should the coop get cleaned?

bills- It's my understanding that deep litter cuts down on daily cleaning but that at the base a damp chemical reaction is taking place that generates ammonia and heat. For this reason ample ventilation is critical. We use shavngs over our planks. I'm not against deep-litter, it's very good on dirt floors and if the owner wants to line the base to protect an existing wooden floor. But I don't need it with thick dry planks on concrete, and I prefer both daily scrapings of roosts/platforms and bi-weekly inspection and cleaning of the floor bedding to a big cleanout of the coop once or twice year.
