How often to offer grit to 8 week hens?

I've been offering grit every 3-4 days to my 5 hens (8 weeks old). I spread a half handful on the ground around their food and another half handful spread throughout the run (5'x12' run). Do I need to be offering more? Am I wasting money by offering too much?

If you have grass or weeds in your garden/backyard, you can just pull that up and give it to the ladies, dirt and all. It’s good to build up immune systems, AND they’ll get their grit. Sometimes a worm is in the dirt, too.

Also, is their run outside?

They don't need that much. At 8 weeks old it's pretty safe to just leave a container of it somewhere for them to take. I use a parrot cup hanging in the coop.
