How often

Thay can eat cooked pasta, oatmeal (raw or cooked) , and Cooked meat (such as chicken or beef)

So is it bad for them to eat the shells of the eggs they have laid? I was told it is good for them but others...OLD SCHOOL... said NO do not do that because it will promote them to eat the egss before you pull them?????

Its good fpr them. Gives them calcium.
The 'old schoolers' probably thought just a cracked egg.
You have to crush the shells up small enough so that they dont recognize as eggs.
I bake mine first so that its easier to crush.

Mine have access to a full feeder, and then once a day get a scratch and kitchen scraps, consisting of veggie tops, unused cooked pasta... sometimes meat scraps, fish... nothing overly processed. Sometimes they get a supervised free range for a bit in the evening. It has to be supervised due to my dog...

Recognize the egg or not, feeding egg shells will not promote egg eating. If anything, it will help to prevent it. chickens are opportunistic, as well as created to want to keep a clean nest. therefore, any egg that has a weak shell, and thus breaks in the nest will be eaten. I toss my egg shells onto the ground and stomp them with my foot. Used to carefully rinse them, dry them, and bake them. Then, I found it to be totally unnecessary. My girls get FF in the morning, and depending on their foraging opportunities again late afternoon or early evening. I try not to leave feed out overnight as that draws rodents and other undesirable creatures to the coop/run.
