How old are my two hens?

I adopted two hens and was told they were less than a year. I was wondering how many months they are and when they would start laying eggs. I have a Buff Orpington and a Barred Rock. Thankyou!

I’m not sure how old they are now but, when they start laying they will be be around 5 months old.I think they will start laying soon.I hope I helped a little bit!

I'd say that they are 3 1/2 to four months old. This is going off of their comb size/reddness, feathering, and body shape. I wouldn't expect eggs for at least another month or so.

I agree, 3-4 months old. The barred Rock looks just like my hens did at that age.

4 to 5 months and the will start laying about 18- 22 weeks.

Personally, I think you'll have to wait forever until that barred bird lays an egg. It's a young rooster from what I can see. Clear profile pictures are best for things like this, you have a lot of shadows and it makes it hard to see.

The buff looks like a pullet so far, but I've seen lots of very late maturing cockerels on here the last few years.
