How old are they when they get their true feathers?

If you have new baby chicks you should start to see their feathers coming in on their wing tips within the first week. It takes them a bit but eventually those little feathers will cover their entire body. Some large fowl breeds are slow to feather and can take 12 weeks or so to be fully feathered and able to go without heat at night in cold weather.
