How old did your cockerel crow?

One of my cockerels started crowing at five weeks, the others didn’t start till later. One of them didn’t crow at all before he was dinner, at about five months. I know someone on here has posted a video of their chick crowing at less than a week old, I’ll have to see if I can find it. It’s adorable.

All good! That little guy was sure full of himself! Every one of the Reds I hatched would start crowing super early like this, crow every morning for about 5-6 days, and then just stop crowing entirely again until they were several weeks old.

That little chick must be really good at crowing by now!

Well, I was not able to keep him because I can only keep so many roosters around and he hatched with many brothers, unfortunately, but he wasn't too shabby at crowing once he was a bit older. All of my bantam Cochin boys sound like they crow one syllable short of a normal crow, though.

I have had more than a few cockerels but my little boy Ebbie crowed at about 4 weeks!!! I was surprised he crowed so young! How old were your cockerels when they first crowed? You don’t have to have the exact age just roughly. View attachment 3882116I just took this picture of him a few days ago. Now that he is about 6 weeks he loves to crow all day!

My current cockerel started at 8 weeks. The others have been around 9 months.
