I really love his attitude already. He just needs to warm uo to me. He is definitely a self blue male. But how old does he look. Sold to me as “Around 12 weeks.”
The breeder tells me he is coming to be fully feathered. I hope his plumage grows out a little more. He is already a good crow watchful eye for my flock. I just wonder if he is really that young. He seems a bit older to me.

His tail is kind of beat up... I’d say he’s 20+ weeks. He looks older than my cockerels who are 24 weeks. Cockerels usually don’t have a great crow at 12 weeks either so I’d say he’s older.

I’ve left the main coop today so I’ll have to check the Spurs tomorrow. Here is a picture of the hen that was sold to me as his mated pair. He says she is around the same age... now I am doubting that as well.

Thanks! They are both Self blue Duccle booted bantams. I plan to breed them next spring and was just hoping that they are the true age and viable for breeding.

Yes, I think you can breed them next spring. They will certainly be old enough.

I was almost wanting to say they have vulture hocks....which is totally acceptable and wanted in D’Uccles!!

Good luck and I hope his tail improves maybe after a molt!

This great insight. Thank you guys very much. I look forward to the next molt and have high hopes this next spring. My hope is that she becomes broody as well. Fingers crossed.
