How old do my chickens have to be for them to be abile to roam free?

I have 5 buff orpingtons, 8 guineas, and 3 rhode island reds and i want to know when is a good time to start letting them roam free? any suggestions, oppinions, bewares?

How common are predators in your area? Do you have plenty of hiding spots for them? Do you have a LGD?

I have no idea what an LGD is, yes we have tons of hawk/eagle like things, bears, and coyotes and in trees?

I started letting my first batch out when they had all there feathers not sure why just when I felt safe letting them out.

they are about 5 months and 3 of them are 3 or 4

They are old enough to free range, but do watch out for predators. I've lost quite a few chickens to predators and I found good fences helps. And I trap if things get out of hand, but hopefully you won't need that.
