How old do these RIR chicks look?

I purchased some RIR chicks from a local farmer. I was told they are 2 weeks old. I have other chicks (Australorps) that are 2.5 weeks. I got the Australorps at tractor supply, and they are half the size as the RIR's, and way less feathered. Does the RIR breed feather out quicker, and grow faster? Or are they possibly older than 2 weeks?

They are probably 3 1/2 weeks old or so. Those feathers on the shoulders usually come in around 3 weeks, in my experience. I've gotten some fairly small Australorps before, so I'm not really surprised that they're smaller.

I wouldn't fault the farmer too much as once you've hatched out just so many chicks, you just don't pay that much attention to being perfect on exactly how old they are.
