I can double check the tags but i don't recall seeing how much should be fed. He's getting a mix of senior and the molasses grain. I think i used nutrena on a horse i had awhile ago, if i remember right.

I re-read my post from yesterday and I am sorry if I came across as pushy!

I just know how special those old guys are and in my experience, once a horse reaches their late twenties to early thirties, by the time you can feel or see ribs you are going to have a heck of a hard time getting weight back on them, simply because their digestive systems just aren't as efficient as they once were. With a younger horse it is so much easier for them to gain a little weight by simply increasing their feed; for an older horse, not so much.

I hope you have many more happy years with your gelding.

When I worked on a rescue we gave older, thinning horses something called Dairyman's Edge. Its meant for cattle but it pulls the nutritions out of the feed the horse's body is throwing away and uses it like they would if they were younger.

No worries, it didn't come across as pushy. I leased a 30 year old horse for awhile and he worked at a summer camp and he always came back super thin, so i know how hard it is!
