How old for snails and sunflower seeds?

Hi,

I'm a first-time user on this site and a newbie chicken mama too. My 4 girls are about 16 weeks old...are they old enough to feed snails? What about sunflower seeds? And, what are Black Oil Sunflower Seeds? How do I know if the ones I have from our 'Kong' sunflowers are BOSS? Thanks in advance for any help!

YES! Snails and sunflower seeds are OK. Any sunflower seeds. They may be skittish at first.

We handfed ours some birdseed over the weekend and the first things they'd pick out were the sunflower seeds. Then turn up their nose at the rest.
