How Old is to OLD for a Hen to Lay ?

i have yet to do any trimming, but if you've seen the roo at it, and the hen is laying, you may need to trim her vent feathers so stuff can go where it's sposed to go... i have no clue what the techniques for this are.. but it might be worth looking into... are you wnating to hatch the eggs??

I am curious about this myself, because I have an older hen that i don"t think ever lays. She is one of my adoptees and we call her granny, so she's not in danger of the stew ot,but I have also seen her mount and mate my other hens. I wonder what the the average age to completely quit is so that if the time comes I can you know.......

Out of my 22 pure breed I have 11 laying and am getting an avg of 8 a day. Sometimes 10 but mostly 9 or 8 but I know I have 11 laying for I have gotten that a couple of times. Chickens do not lay more than one egg a day.
