how old is too old for a roo

I have a 5 month old roo, he is getting quite pretty, I have heard him crow only once? He certainly has not got 'active' and is acting rather like a teenage boy. The hens are still ruling the roost. My question is, does the limited daylight, kind of slow them down too, like the hens? They get no additional light, and tonight is the longest night, so I am hoping the whole flock gets a bit more active in the next few weeks. mk

Again, as sourland said in an early post: it depends on the breed and on the health/vigour of the individual bird. Generally, you could use the 6 month date that has already been given, but I do keep breeds where the males aren't fertile until 8-10 months.
