How old must they be??

So in spring im getting my FIRST few chicks, im really excited and already getting ready for them! My question is, how old must these babies be to go outside?

Four to five weeks they have to be fully feathered!

Once they are feathered they can go out UNLESS it's really cold out still-then you might need to use a heat lamp for a short time.

Generally, when they have fully feathered out at around 6 weeks. If the nighttime temps are warm enough, they can go out earlier though. Say your night time temps are around 65-70. If there is 4 or more they can pretty much keep warm by snuggling up together so long as they have a place that isn't drafty by 4 weeks.

They don't need to be indoors at all, they just need to be warm enough. Depends on your setup.
