how old or what size

I have 6 cuckoo marana hens and 1 rooster , these were hatched in Jan /11/2010 ( this year ) but all are now bigger than my 2 to 3 yr old RIR's , the rooster has started servicing the hens this week is this a sign that they are about to lay ?? Rooster also just started what I guess he calls crowing last week .

My RIR are the smallest in my flock. If the where hatched on 1/11/10 they are about 5.5 months old so they should be getting ready for laying. about 20 weeks in normal give or take
