How old should my babies be?

How old do my chicks have to be before I put them in the coop with the full grown hens?

How old are yours now and how old are the ones in the run? I understand that the new kids should be about the same size before you put them together. I have 6 week old girls now and I am getting 6 more 1 day olds in a month and although they will all be in the same coop I will have them in a good size covered pen /brooder where the new girls can see out and the them 10 week olds can see them but will not be able to get to them and I will not let them together until the babies are about 8 weeks old or more and able more to defend themselves. I have been told that the old timers will peck the stuffin out of them if they are too little. But that is a very good question and I am curious as to what others suggest as I will need advice on mixing the flock in about 2 months time as I will have 14 weekers and 1 monthers also. Trudy
