How old should my first "pet" chicks be?

I'm not sure if I should get baby chick still in down feathers or if I should get adolescent chicks... What do y'all think?

I would get them as young as I could to allow the imprinting process to take place. Let them think you're Momma...Handle frequently, and enjoy!

I agree. Our first two were juveniles (around 12wks) and we've never been able to just walk over and pick them up. My day old chicks that I raised will run up to you, and jump up on your knee. lol Big difference if you want a friendly bird.
