The early season birds can lay in the fall just like turkeys. A few of my April hatched guineas have started laying an egg here and there but most will wait until the following spring but 18-20 weeks is the age I have observed in my birds. I am in Texas and it is still warm here and maybe in colder climates you won't see those young guineas laying.

The guineas I hatched on March 26, 2010 started laying at 100 days, that's 3 months and 10 days. They layed about 100 eggs and haven't layed since Sept. 3. I have 27 birds total, not sure how many hens. I turned them out to free range a three quarter acre garden area on Sept. 1st and they continued to lay for 2 or 3 days and haven't seen an egg since. I still put out layer pellets and oyster shell for them but they don't eat it like when they were penned. I'm hoping they're working on the bugs in the vegetable garden. Getting ready to plant and anxious to see how they treat the vegetable seedlings.
