How old were you?

As my sister pointed out, on Thanksgiving, my parents gave each of us a set of cheap suitcases, for graduation presents....I left for the Navy, while still 17....What I find hard to understand is the phenomenon of people my age, the Baby Boomer generation, who couldn't wait to hit the road, now, coddle their adult children, to the point of incapability.

Not even two months after graduation/18th birthday. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! Never looked back. My sweet babies can't ever leave. They are only 7 and 3. So I know I will change my mind one day -- can't picture it yet.

16... then back for a bit at 17, then back out at 17 still. pregnant at 19, married at 21.. have my own life. my friend's BIL though, is 28 and still lives at home. he moved out for a year at age 25, then right back in... lives rent free, and gets fed all his meals... and is not disabled in any way, unless 420 counts as a disability...

Late bloomer here. Mom kicked me out at 22. I was devastated.

I had no idea I could make it on my own. 20 yrs later I would give anything to live w/ my mom again (she passed away 12 yrs ago).

Well mine is a bit of story. I left home at 14 years old, due to drug abuse. I never went back, but I did land my rear in rehab at 19 - not a 30 days rehab, but a real one and I was there for 18 months living in, and 1 year therapy living on my own. Of my graduating class from that program, there is one other still clean.

And for those of you who may feel I share too much, let me be an example of the "It CAN be done" club.

ETA: My 21 year old son is in college full time, so he is still here. He informed me yesterday he plans on a PhD. I in turn informed him he is NOT living here til he is 35.

Moved out at 17 to the dorms. Went back to Mom's for the summer until I found my own place. Never went back after that. My 20 yr. old brother still lives with my dad and has no job and no ambition. Its sad really.

I'm 21 and I live at home in between school semesters at college. I live at college otherwise. I really don't have any immediate plans to move out and my parents aren't in any hurry to make me move out either. As long as I am working or going to school they are more than happy to have me. I am planning on more schooling after graduating college in a year, so it will probably be a while until I completely move out of my parents' house. Eventually I will rent an apartment, but I figure I will try and save up as much as I can now while I don't have to pay rent!

18! Counted the days I could get out of there.

Have a brother whos 50 and he's still there. Our mom died in April, so he lives there with my stepdad.

Guess he isn't still there. He was gone for 1 yr while married and then 2 years living with a grandmother.
