how old is too old for a chicken to still taste good ? i was told , once they get to 7 months old they start tasting funny .........

pollo ... you said how i cook it may change but not the flavor ????? can you elaborate please ...... i usually bake or deep fry chicken , never did it with a fresh one though....heck i've yet to butcher my first bird !
 
The older the bird, the slower you want to cook it.

Roasting would be best, deep fry is a bit too hot and fast to let the muscle fibers really break down (it will be "tough".)

Older chickens get more flavor with age. That's why even with "old" chickens - over a year - they are still good for stewing or crockpotting (is that a word?), the taste is much more "chickeny".
 
so if i was to simmer an older chicken in a frying pan (and italian dressing) on low and let it slowly cook it would still be good , not tough ?
