How old roughly are pullets that you would buy at TEC or Atwoods? I bought a few on May 13 and they are pretty decent sized now.need to know so I'll know when to release them to free range. Thanks for the advice in advance!!!

I'd think size (to better avoid predation) and their familiarity with what is "home" (so they know where to go at night), in general, would be more important than actual age. In the past we've successfully started free-ranging around 1-2 weeks of age with adult birds; 8-10 weeks with only juvenilles. You just have to be sure they know where to come back to.

Well. They managed to get out once before while my wife and I were at work and when we made it home they were all sitting. On my porch near their pen. The main part I'm kind of worried about is that we have 4 adult hens and a rooster free ranging.I tried to let them out yesterday and two of my hens were destined to get them lol.

You could try free ranging in shifts - the little guys in the morning and the bigguns in the afternoon..

Well that more or less could work. But it's extremely hot out right now and that would put me chasing chickens about high noon. Most of them will come for corn but some wanna be a rebel and stay away. Lol. My bigger ones have been cooped up in a run today and the younger ones are out and about.
