How quickly does a blood ring form?

Just a question more out of curiosity than anything...

I set 7 eggs in my Brinsea Mini in my classroom last Tuesday. Yesterday morning (day 7), I came to school and found that the incubator had gotten unplugged the night before when the room was cleaned (probably between 4 and 7 pm). The incubator said it was at 17 degrees when I turned it back on at 8 am (I have a very cold classroom, and it's kindergarten, but that's a gripe for a different day...).

I candled the eggs after school yesterday - 4 look alive and well, moving around, 2 are clearly blood rings, and 1 looks like it's on it's way out. My question is, given the timing, is it more likely that they died because of becoming chilled, or would this have happened anyway? If the chick got too cold and died Monday evening, would the blood ring show up by Tuesday afternoon? I know it doesn't really matter, but I was SOOO furious, and if my anger is misdirected, I'll try to swallow it back a bit and not give the custodian a really hard time.

I've read a lot of stories on here of chicks being okay after being chilled... hoping the 4 are fine. The children sit and watch every day, and check the chart to see what they look like... they will be so disappointed if we get no chicks!

I am sorry this happened.
I hope the rest of the eggs continue to grow for you.
I am pretty sure it is possible for a blood ring to show up pretty quick after the embryo dies.
