How soon after Hatch does Khaki Campbell return to Laying?

My Khaki's babies are only 5 days old and Mom laid an egg today! Her behavior this am was different, too! She *really* wanted outside!!! I suppose to lay the egg.

That's strange none of my ducks returned to laying while they were raising the babies. It could be due to the fact KCs are such a extreme laying breed.

Oh no Kevin! Does this mean that she may try to leave them? I sure hope not! I hope it's just her prolific nature. Thanks for the reply

Oh it's no problem at all HDF. I don't think it means she will leave them. The broody hormones may be out of whack and her body could just think it's time to start laying again.

Nope. My Khaki Mom hatched out 4 ducklings, all perfect. She laid pretty consistently til just a few weeks ago, now she is taking a break. I can't wait for her to hatch again. And she is herself young, not even 1yr old yet. She is an excellent mother.
