This light splash silkie just started crowing, so 4-5 months old. How dark does anyone think this silkie might get if he's a Splash? He was bred from a white male and a dark silkie (not sure black or blue mama). He's so light, almost white. At this point can he still get darker Splash coloring? Obviously he'd be a light Splash in the end, but does he have the potential at this point to still get Splash coloring, does anyone know? Thank you?

I have only limited experience with splash, but generally they either have the dark marks or they don't. I don't recall them coming in later. He is still a bit young, and he may not be done growing in his adult feathers.

Splash is 2 copies of blue. They need to inherit a copy from each parent, so a splash can only come from
Blue x blue
Blue x splash
Splash x splash

I've heard splash x splash results in fainter color
White can cover up color. But a black feathered bird can't produce splash.

If he is splash, I'm not sure he'll get more color?
I don't have silkies, but I have 3 splash pullets (marans, ameraucana) and though they started out pale, they eventually had splash showing up. But it seemed most of their splash showed up by 4 months, and it maybe just became more defined? (They're 7 months old now)
New to splash. Not sure how much they change.
