How spoiled are your birds???

My Girls have a radio on all the time...I think they really like Bob Dylan...they stop what they are doing to cock thier heads and listen...very cute. Oh and I run around the yard in the summer and catch bugs for them. If I find a spider in the house, I save it and bring it out to them. Used to freak when bugs were around...now I go looking for them. You should see me catching crickets and grass hoppers...thier personal favorites!

Here's one for ya! Our chickies are just over a week old now. We have well water, and I refuse to give it to them without filtering it through my Brita filter first! My husband laughs, but I insist that the well water might have bacterias or something that could hurt them. Between the chicks, and our family we go through roughly 2 or 2 1/2 gallons on filtered water a day. A gallon of that is for the chickies! ;0)

I'm a new parent to 10 cute chicks as of a week and a half ago and its so awesome that people look at their chickens as pets rather than egg layers or food. Thats what everyone else thinks they are and asked me why I don't just go to the store and buy eggs and chicken there. I won't cook my babies though and their eggs will just be a perk of having them. They are already part of my family. Watching them play is hilarious. They are so entertaining and are great pets. I spent all of saturday working on a coop and then all of today and this is just my temporary coop. My hands are extremely blistered now but my chicks are out of thier cardboard box that I had them in so its well worth it. The little guys grew sooo fast and they have wings so yeah I definately wanted them to have a bigger place. The box I had them in was from a giant furnace so it was a good sized box for 10 little chicks and I had the heat lamp clipped on the side but now they outgrew it and can fly so I built a temporary coop. Its cute. They are extremely happy and now have a place to perch too. So yeah chickens are great.
