How tall a fence around run?

I would make it at least 5 feet and 6 if you can. It will make it easier on you when you have to go in and clean or retrieve a sick/dead bird. We have built a shorter one (only 3 ft) and you either have to duck walk in or crawl. Neither of which is too fun. But we learned our lesson. We are in the process of building one that is 5 1/2 feet tall.

And definitely get some kind of covering on top. Even if it is a cheap tarp that YOU staple down.

We have just finished our coop with a very secure run underneath, however, we also like to let them run in a part of our yard and we used 100 feet of economy wire and made a half circle. So far no evidence of air predators but I did put up some bright silver duct tape, (hearing they did not like shiny things) When we get the run completed like we want I am going to hang a disco ball in the middle and let the sun play off the ball. Don't ask why I have a disco ball, but when I purchased it 25 years ago I knew some day it would be put to good use.
