How tall are meat birds?

One piece of info I just can't seem to find anywhere is how TALL certain meat chickens get. The ones I've been thinking of are the cornish cross and the ranger types.

If you had to guess, at time of harvest, if the chickens stood up how tall would they be? Similar to a laying hen size? Shorter?

Mine were pretty short. They were wider than they were tall.. a little shorter than a laying hen, maybe same height.

Cornish seem to have a crouch to them when they are full grown so I would say they stand a little shorter than a dual purpose hen, but a fair bit wider obviously. A full grown ranger is about the same height and build as a full grown dual purpose - they just get there quicker. Hard question really though since many varieties of laying hens are different heights.

That's actually a very good point... Would you say like 18" tall?

They are not very tall, I would say Average in size but very wide and heavy that is where the huge breast comes from, being taller than they are would put too much pressure on their bones

I would say more like 12 or 13" standing up as straight as possible maybe a little more. Just a guess though. I've never actually measured

Oh I don't NEED to know lol. Was just really curious how tall they were compared to other chickens and when I couldn't find the information anywhere it really peaked my curiosity! Thanks everyone for the input - SUPER helpful

Sometimes the Ranger type of birds can get fairly tall. Maybe not Jersey Giant tall but taller than Cornish X. Close to a Brahma height but I have not seen enough Brahmas to know if the ones I have seen were taller or shorter than average.

You had me curious so I went out and measured my CX, Hatched June 20th (15 or 16 weeks old) .. the females are 12 and 13 inches tall, the male is 16.5 inches tall. Its not easy to measure their height.

If you process at the correct time (not that there is a specific correct time but much younger than mine are currently). they will not be this tall. I do not have any adult red rangers or any ranger for that matter right now to measure them.

My hatchery-quality Light Brahma rooster (Ideal Hatchery), was 2 feet tall when fully grown and matured.
