How Tall Is The Average Cochin Rooster While Roosting?

My Cochin rooster rarely uses any perch that is more than 3' of the floor. He is too heavy to fly and I think he knows that he could be hurt coming off of the higher perches in the morning. My ceilings are 8' in front sloping down to 5' in the back. The perch he sleeps on probably has a ceiling 3' above his perch and he has plenty of head room.
The vents in my henhouse are on the opposite wall from most of the perches. ;)

I just measured my Cochin rooster on the perch. Sitting on it his head is about 12" above the perch. But if he stood up on the perch his head would probably be about 18" above it. The perch he uses most of the time is 32" above the floor. And he has 3' of space above his head when sitting on the roost. The more space you have, the better! Hope this helps.;)

That helps very much. Thanks for the specifics! :bow
