How tall to build coop

How tall are ducks? I want to build them a little house to sleep in, but don’t know how tall to make it so they can walk in and be comfortable.

I was picturing making a box big enough to sleep in with a hinged top to make it easier to clean out.

If you just want something small with a lid I would make it 3ft tall. That will give them plenty of head room without being too tall to reach into.

What kind of ducks are you getting? Sizes may vary a lot depending on the breed.

Mine (muscovi) sleep in a walk-in coop with other birds, but they definitely prefer lower roofed areas within to sleep, like under nesting boxes with about 2ft ceiling clearance or less.

I was debating between white star hybrid layers, anconas, cayugas, and welsh harlequins.

One thing I'd consider is a slanting ceiling, so they have a bit more headroom at the front and can snuggle up at the back if they want, and you don't need to worry as much about exact height if you end up getting a mix of breeds.
