How tall?

Sorry for the dumb question but how tall do some chickens get? (RIR, Barred Rocks, Golden Buffs)
I'm trying to figure out how high to install my poop board in my coop.

Your poop board is usually under a roost, right? I think most folks try to give them 2 feet of clearance above a roost. I have a few birds that squeeze into a space a little less than a foot, roosting in a rafter, but they're pretty determined!

I have dual purpose breeds like those. Some exact some close to the breed. Hens I would say walking normal head up would go between 16-20 inches max. Roosters can be upwards of 24-26 inches walking head up. Depends on the bird. RIR I have had before I swear was all of 30 inches. I would guess my current dominate rooster (Australorp) its pushing 27 inches. But he is like 5 years old with 4 inch spurs. Hens don't get quite as big but there are exceptions like everything in the animal kingdom.

With head down they can drop 4-8 inches or more. Birds will duck or hop over if the obstruction is to bothersome to them. Hope this helps I may be a little off just going by my birds (Past and present) not books or SOP.
