My EE are between 5-6 weeks old and have taken them outside, for short periods, from the beginning. We live in Florida and it's been in the 90s for some time now, but the peeps live inside in the AC. Today within 15 minutes they were overheating, so I brought them inside. They were not in the sun and had water. How am I going to ever get them use to the heat and be outdoor free ranging chicks? They cannot live in the AC forever. Any ideas? TIA

If you go back thought a few days of post you'll find that your question has been asked and answered afew times...
There are go pretty KOOL ideas now to help keep the flock cooler

I had a chick I raised inside until it was feathered and then I put it outside in the coop. Here in Middle TN it’s been in the 90’s for a while now. Didn’t have any issues with the chick at all. Gave it water and shade and that was it. I don’t think you have to do anything to get them used to it. Just leave them out there with access to water and shade. They will do the rest.

How do you know they are overheating? My chicks were born and raised outside in the coop by their momma hen!!! I have done nothing! We are here in FL and last week it was 102 in the shade on my back porch! Chicks and other chickens are fine. They have water and shade! They are fine.

5-6 weeks is perfect time to get them out there and used to their environment. Mine have been with the flock since 3 days old!
