Hey all, I am looking for ideas of what to use/ how to install a poop board or something similar that I can clean off weekly. All 10 hens roost on the top bar. Every now and then I will find 1 hen on the lower bar but I don't think she's there all night its usually at dusk when I'm closing the door that she's there. As of now what I have been doing is just replacing the pine shavings monthly, I use 1 full bag when I replace. So its not a huge deal less than 10$ and maybe an hour of time, but I would like to only need to remove the poop weekly and replace the shavings every 6 months, or even once a year if possible. Right now a majority of the poop is between the 2 boards, they roost facing the wall.
Here is what the setup looks like, this pic was taken before they were moved out to the coop in Nov:

Thanks for any and all advice.

I’m looking at them to complete shed revision. I want to fashion mine much like the removable trays you see on the prefab coop so it is removable and easily cleanable even if I don’t use as a drawer. I would create a frame for the tray to slide onto at the level of wood under the lowest roost. The tray can be made from 1x3’ into rectangle the size you need. I would also put handle on front of tray for easy pull out. Make tray at least 3 inches deep. One inch deep too small. The bottom of tray can be wood but keep in mind this is heavy and most coop trays under roosts have sheet metal that won’t buckle under hen weight drilled to bottom to size specification. Much less weight. I saw once someone used a dog crate black plastic liners to place on a wood frame to hold tray under roosts and found this easy to remove and clean. Can just take to compost bin nearby or wheel barrel and dump in compost bin. The dog crate tray is pretty shallow though keep in mind. :)
