How to amaze and (slightly) frighten your chickens...

Mimic that purring, brrrrLLLLLlllllll noise that they make!

My husband was making the noise over and over. The chickens all had their heads up at first and were stone still. Then after about a minute the pullets all very slowly crept up to Larry (alpha roo) and huddled around him with looks on their faces like, “what the heck is that?”. It was totally bizarre.

Next time I need the chickens to stand at attention for a good photo I know what to do!!

How funny.

The other day, I was trying to get my RIR to sing her egg song. I was singing it for her, but all I got was a soft bok bok bok. Guess I wasn't any good.

That's because you said "Hawk!"

Or perhaps more generically 'Danger from the air', or 'The sky is falling!'

Yeah, that's one of the 'BEWARE: predator' noises. They're going to go insane if you do it.

Next time try it when it's really quiet and they're all outside. I love to mimic that noise.

I like the sky is falling part! We haven't had much rain since they've been alive and last night there was some thunder and a short rain shower, so maybe they did think the sky was falling!!
