My chickens scratch in a .5 acre wood lot all day in the back yard, is there any way to attract bug back there to help them out?

I went to open the door for the coop to let the girls into the run this am. OMG!!! The mosquitoes are terrible!!! I was almost overwhelmed by the voracious little beasts!! Can't wait for the dragon flies:) to come out and get rid of them.

I have 2 water lily ponds that currently have tadpoles in them and some well fed dragonflies. I just wish the dang mosquitoes didn't find me so tasty! Rarely see one, but I sure get bit.

Manure and compost piles should attract enough bugs.

OR you can just come on over to my house and grab all you can!!! (please)

Oh yeah! Compost pile or wood left to rot - keep a pile of leaves moist. All those have lots of bugs.

long time ago i knew a guy that would feed fish in his pond by suspending a dead carcass of [insert whatever you've got here] above his pond. he would put it in a ham stocking (that mesh material hams are placed in during curing and smoking), and hang it from a tree branch over the edge of the pond. as the flies laid eggs, which then hatched, they would drop into the water feeding his fish.

don't think i would do this in my backyard
