How To Band Feather-Legged Chickens?

How to you put band on a feather-legged chicken for show/breeding purposes so that the band doesn't muse feathers?

I would think you should just get a large leg band and snap it on above the feathers. They sell very lagre ones for turkey toms and geese.

Or use skinny zipties that will fit between the feather shafts.

I use zip-ties for my production flock but I'd need metal or plastic numbered bands for breeding/showing.

Then over the feathers it is......can you take that band off after the show?

No, I need the bands for tracking breedings also.
