We have a good assortment of BBS bantam cochin cockerels and pullets and I am just curious how you would divide a trio for showing. My gut says follow the BBS and use a blue, a black and a splash but my brain says judges want a consistency in the pen with size and color. So, how do we show a trio of these beauties? Thanks!

DON'T follow you gut on this one. People use BBS is if it means just one variety of a breed that just happens to come in three colors. You have three distinct varieties of cochins. If you mix the colors you wont have a trio. It would be the same as using a black, white, and buff cochin and calling it a trio when in reality you just have 3 different chickens in a pen.

All three birds need to be the same. I would suggest the blacks since there is less room for error. Black is black! Blues and splash can have different shades and the blues could having lacing issues. The two females really need to be a good match.
