how to build a coop for $350 or less?

I need a coop for around 12 chickens but I do not have much money after i bought my hovabator genesis. The chicks have not hatched yet because it is day 15 of incubation. I will not be keeping any roosters I get except for 1 because I might need some fertile eggs. I might and all end up with about 10-12 chickens at the most. I need someone here to post a guide or maybe pics of their coops that they only built for around 350 or less. Thanks happy posting !

Good luck. We spent more than that on ours and we continue to add and update to it. Today we added more sand to the run.

You can build a nice useable coop using shipping pallets on the cheap. It's a bit of work but will look great. Also check out pallet shipping crates that companies have out for scrap. A trick that worked to pull staples out of pallet boards is use pound a screwdriver under the staple and pry up. They staples can be pulled out with a pliers and the board won't crack. These shipping crates made a nice 6'x8' walk in coop A free 5 drawer dresser made a great dual level nesting box with storage drawer in top drawer.

Originally, I thought we'd be able to build our coop for around that much...almost a $800 later we now have a beautiful coop. If you have someone that is extremely handy and has materials already available you should have no problem constructing the coop for less then $350.

If you really want to budget your coop, do tons of research. Some of the most important things to think about when planning are:

Ventilation (extremely important), size..bigger is better, easy to up keep, predator proof, functionality.

Adding on to my coop this week, using shipping pallets. and scrap wood or unwanted wood. The tips to finding wood is contacting garden centers for unwanted pallets. assure the owner you'll be neat!
My trash pickup is on mondays so on Sundays people may throw away good wood, so I drive around and scavenge.
