How To Catch A Thief

In just this last week my co-workers and I have found several bottles of pop that have been opened, drank from and then put back in the pop cooler.
A customer found one tonight so that made 2 in one day.
With one co-worker we figured the loss just this week in pops is around $16.00.
Might not seem like alot but it really ticks us off because the owners are such nice people and the thefts are really starting to add up.

There are cameras but unless they are upgraded they will not be able to catch the thief. Already talked to the owners about that. They just don't have the funds to do it right now.

Besides myself there are 2 others who are ticked off about the thefts and we want to catch this person(s)

Any suggestions or ideas?

borrow a trail cam and hide it where you could get a good shot of the persons face. OR... a small web cam that you can tuck away and hook to a computer.

BTW,,,,,,, that's just plain gross... hope a customer doesn't end up with one. Real bad for business! Hope you can catch them!

One of my co-workers is a real techie. He is ticked off about the thefts. Will talk to him about the little web cam because a trail cam will stick out like a sore thumb and be noticed right away. I know if we do the small cam we will not be able to tell anybody because it will be told to everyone in town.

Owner thinks it might be a high school kid, but I personally think it is one of 2 co-workers. Had someone steal a couple of heart shaped cheesecakes out of the cooler from the bakery. They had been bought and held with the names on them and when the persons who bought them came to get them they were gone.

That won't solve the problem. The object is to catch the perpetrator, not warn him.

Won't keep them from just putting it in their pocket and walking out.

I looked around the area and found a couple good spots to mount a small camera. One spot is so perfect it is unreal. Only problem is that is where we stock our extra boxes. Thought if we could put an empty one there with a camera inside it would work.

Going to talk to them today.
