How to change text in a subject line?

I've seen people change the text in a subject line, but I can't figure out how to do it. Many times I don't SEE a subject line when I click "Edit".

I think you have to go back to the original post and click the edit on that one in order to change the subject line.

Oh, you're right! It doesn't show up if you are in one of your own replies to a reply.
