How to choose between two Roos?

I have 11 hens 3 roos. They are 18 weeks old. 1 partridge silkie roo and 2 ameracauna roos. All are docile right now.
I will wait until the winter and study on how everyone is getting along throughout the summer and watch the roos temperments. Sometimes they all can coexist with no problems from anyone. If not, i will cull.
Your 2 roos are still young and not fully mature enough yet to get a good idea of personality. Ive made the mistake of choosing a roo too soon and he ended up being human aggressive a few weeks later. He was the friendliest at the time but those darn hormones take a while to fully kick in. Giving enough time to grow up more will give you a better choice of which roo is best for your flock.

looks just like my RIR.....very sweet and friendly chicken. I love mine one of the first birds to greet me each morning......

Her too. When she was little I would tell her how Preciuos she was, well she started responding to Precious and that is how she got her name.

Did you get the red one from a farm store or a hatchery? She looks like a Production Red to me (New Hampshire x Rhode Island Red cross). I'm not sure about the roosters that's really a tough call, it doesn't sound like either are people aggressive so that's good. It's sounds like your Leghorn is dominant over the Silver Laced. If you take the Leghorn out the Silver Laced could change his behavior once he's the dominant cockerel, it's hard to predict. I would say though if neither are showing aggression towards you or the pullets then I would keep whichever you have a preference for.

Definitely pick the first one I have serverl rooster and I'd always pick the most confident rooster as they will be great protect ers over the coop

Since you have such a diverse flock, I believe it comes down to what you want from your Rooster.

All things being equal, I would normally go for the breed documented traits, although individual birds personalities can ( and often do) deviate from the norms.

Having said that, Leghorns have a reputation of being “nervous” and some have noted the Silver Lace is usually the dominant member of a flock.

If I were you, I think I would ask myself what I REALLY want from a Rooster and wait and see if there is actually a “problem” prior to eliminating one or the other from the flock.

...my $.02 !
