How to cover metal roost.

They will peck through it.I used foam insulation that has metal outer wrap on it on an outside pipe,and they pecked through it.

Really???? Really??? The little buggers chewed through the duck tape!!! Well, those dang pesky birds!!!!!

Yep ,it used to go farther down.I put it on there then noticed they were pecking it off.So i had to remove most of it.I used the same on their door gap and the same thing.I had to remove it.

Ahhh, I was not thinking the metal duct tape. I was talking the tough fabric like Gorilla tape. I do not think they could pick through it. The metal being shiny would be a magnet for them....


BUT again, no guarantees, just my humble opinion.

You know, I've been following this thread and reading everyone's suggestions with great interest, but have come to the conclusion that the only way to keep them off those rafters is to slap some chicken wire all across the entire inside (like a false ceiling). You could use those plastic zip ties which will make it easier to put up. That would solve the problem of them getting up there. A cheap and easy 'fix'. Then build yourself some roosts (if you haven't already). Oh, I'm sure they'll raise holy heck when they find they can't get up there, but they'll calm down...just thinking and JMHO.

Any reason you can't just bolt a 1x4 to the top of the beam? (Maybe using u-bolts?)
