How to do the heimlich on a chicken?

I was curious, is there any way to do the heimlich on a chicken if you see them choking? Can chickens choke? I'm asking because my dog started choking last night and I did the heimlich on her and she threw up part of a root ball.

Chickens have a different anatomy so I don't think the Heimlich would work on them.

If my understanding is correct, then the abdominal cavity acts like a piston moving air through the resporatory system. I bet that would cause the bird damage to push on that.

Agrees believe that the diaphragm is what makes the Heimlich work, and birds don't have diaphragms.
