How to drop the humidity in the incubator?

A bowl of rice or unpopped popcorn in the bator is known to help reduce humidity.

How would a hen drop it if the outside humidity was 51%? I would not worry about it---I would just run no Water in the incubator. If you feel you really need it lower---put the incubator in a room with a dehumidifier. Good Luck!

Well there is little things you might could do to drop it a little, but the dehumidifier in a room with the incubator is the easiest way in my opinion. You can run the dehumidifier as needed.

I have no water in the incubator The only time I add water is when I go into lock down. I wanted to see how well keeping the humidity in the 30s and 40s works.

My second to the last hatch I ran completely dry (fall season) and my bator averaged 40% I ended with 13/16 hatch. The Easter hatch (stilll using pellet stove) I couldn't run completely dry because it only held an average of 16%, so I added a wet sponge to hold it right around 30%. I ended up with 33/36. I love the low humidity incubation method and it's even better when I can do it and run dry, but I think aiming for 30-40% is spot on (as long as you are monitoring air cells too.)

i put some rice in a few minutes ago. I just googled the humidity outside and it was in the 70s! I might not need to add any water at lock down You can thank Florida for that

My dad and sibs are from Florida (My mom and I were "lucky" to be yankees...lol
Any how, I remember going down for a week during summer before my senior year of school...in July!!! Anyhow, I hated the cold of my uncle's air conditioner, but if I walked outside I felt like I was smoking 5 cigarrettes at once....lol And it rained, I swear, every day between 3-5 w/o fail! lol

Floridas bipolar!!! Yesterday it was pouring down rain and in the middle of a rain cloud the sun was peeking out I've never left Florida before so I don't know any other type of humidity and heat. It's so hot in the summer, well in the sun, it feels like you could incubate eggs out there!!! You can go outside and do nothing and be pouring sweat!
