How to extract Equimax from tube

I noticed tapeworms in one of my chickens’ droppings the other day, as well as in another dropping much smaller that I don’t think was hers. I have 23 chickens who free range most of the day, so I can’t keep track of who drops what. I plan on deworming all of them with Equimax (in case more of them have tapes and also because I’m trying to start a routine of deworming them 2x a year to be on the safe side), but I’m not sure how best to extract the dewormer from the tube. I’ve already gotten all of their weights, so I know how much each of them needs. TIA

I would squirt out a small amount on a flat surface. Then I would use a 1 ml needle-less syringe (usually available at most pharmacies including Walmart, and may be free for giving babies or animals medications) to draw it up. Dosage is 0.16 ml for a 5 pound chicken or 0.03 ml per pound.

Would squirting some into a 10 ml syringe and extracting it with a 1 ml syringe work as well? When I had to deworm them before, I used Zimecterin Gold, and a friend advised me to put the tube in a 10 ml needless syringe, cut the tip off, make the hole big enough to fit a 1 ml syringe and draw it out that way. Unfortunately, I wasted a lot going that route because I couldn’t really get the hang of it, which is why I opted for Equimax this time because the dosage per pound is lower. However, the tube doesn’t fit the way the Zimecterin Gold did. Just wondering which method would create the least amount of waste since everything has gone up in price recently.

Also, for some of my chickens that are like 5.8 pounds, 4.6, etc., is it safe to round up? I was told that Equimax is more concentrated so it’s easier to overdose.

I would do it the way I said. You only need to squirt out a little at a time, and then cap the Equimax when you have enough. It will store the rest. Yes you can round up the dosage. But 0.03 ml is very minute, 3 hundredths of an ml per pound. Be sure to redoes in 14 days to get any worm eggs that hatch. Have you confirmed tapeworms?

Yes. I actually noticed because my most favorite hen pooped right in front of me, and I’ve gotten into the habit of checking droppings whenever I get the chance lol. The tapeworm segments were moving. Is it 10 days or 14? I thought it was 10, but I have no problem doing it in 14.
