how to fatten a duck

I realize I am not going to put alot of wait on in a month time but I want to butcher my extra drake for Thanksgiving. What should I feed him to help pack on some weight he a perkin duck he already about five pounds tops.

Best way to get an animal to gain muscle is by feeding protein dense feeds as that is the building block of muscle. Corn will add fat and not much else. Beet pulp is excellent because it is mostly fiber and its highly digestible and will pack weight on anything quick. Limit free ranging if you do any because the more exercise he gets the more calories he is going to burn which is less weight put on as meat.

He about six months he was free ranging now he in a rabbit hutch. I feed 28% protien feed mix with wild bird seed which is 8% or 10%.

Keeping him penned will be the greatest help to adding weight. I suggest some very pulp also. It does amazing things.

Where do I get it?

Tractor supply carries it and most feed mills do also. Wet it before feeding as it swells to triple and quadruple its size when wet.
